Campers across Illinois are being asked to be firewood wary. There
could be an unwanted pest hidden inside that could be devastating
to the state’s 118 million ash trees if it emerges later
this summer from unburned wood.

Duane
Edward Erickson,
73, died April 27 at Broen Memorial Home, Fergus Falls, Minn.
Erickson was a specialist in extension, research and teaching
and was a professor of agricultural economics at the UI for 32
years, retiring in 1995.
Sjanna Johnston, 55,
died April 21 at her Champaign home. Johnston had worked at McKinley
Health Center since 1991 as a staff physician. She also taught
in the UI College of Medicine as a clinical assistant professor
in the department of family medicine. Memorials: Arthritis Foundation,
Champaign County Chapter, 200 Lincoln Square, Urbana, IL 61801,

Pamela Jean Joy,
53, died April 29 in her Champaign home. Joy worked at the UI
from 1985 to 2002 as a staff clerk for the Office of Publications

Robert E. Smith, 73,
died April 25 at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana. Smith
started as a pre-press technician for UI Printing Services in
1985, retiring in 1999. Memorials: WILL-TV or Provena Covenant
Hospice Care Program, Urbana.
Wayne Vaughn,
78, died April 17 at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.
Vaughn worked as a sub-foreman/painter for the UI Physical Plant
for 35 years, retiring in 1985. Memorials: St. Joseph Masonic
Lodge or the American Heart Association.
