Alan William Baird, 69, died July 11 at Provena Covenant Medical
Center, Urbana. Baird was a clinical instructor in the UI College
of Medicine from 1982 to 1986. Memorials: Provena Covenant Foundation,

Sue “Chi” Thi Nguyen
Haigh, 66, died July 4 at her Champaign home.
Haigh worked at the UI for eight years, retiring in 1991 as a kitchen supervisor
in the Housing Division. Memorials: Refugee Center, 302 Birch, Urbana, IL 61801.
Paul Raymond Hesselmann, 78, died July 4 at his home in Tolono. Hesselmann worked
at the UI from 1958 to 1977, first as an assistant health physicist in the Graduate
College and then in the Division of Environmental Health and Safety. Memorials:
Champaign Catholic Charities, Provena Covenant Hospice Program or St. Patrick’s
Building Fund in Tolono.
Lloyd J. Sprinkle, 83, died July 6 at the Bement Health Care Center, Bement,
Ill. Sprinkle worked at the UI for 20 years, retiring in 1987 as a building service
worker for the Division of Operation and Maintenance (now Facilities and Services).
Memorials: Centerville United Methodist Church.
