Catherine Hannon Blackwell, 86, died Oct. 7 at Arizona State Veterans’ Home, Phoenix. Blackwell retired as a director of nursing from McKinley Hospital. Memorials: Arizona State Veterans’ Home, 4141 N. Third St., Phoenix, AZ 85012.
Ruth Ann Demlow, 66, died Oct. 15 at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana. Demlow worked in housing administration, retiring in 1999 after 35 years at the UI. Memorials: Down Syndrome Network of Champaign County, 2702 S. First St., Champaign, IL 61822.
Bernard H. Grussing, 86, died Oct. 18 at The Carle Arbours, Savoy. He worked for Facilities and Services at the UI. Memorials: St. John Lutheran Church.
John B. “Jack” Hanson, 88, died Oct. 23 at Meadowbrook Healthcare Center, Urbana. Hanson was a professor of agronomy and head of the botany department from 1967 to 1985. He retired in 1985 after 32 years of service. Memorials: UI Foundation’s John B. Hanson Scholarship Fund or Community United Church of Christ, Champaign.
Donald Munro Henderson, 85, died Oct. 21 at Meadowbrook Healthcare Center, Urbana. Henderson was a professor emeritus of geology at the UI. He retired in 1989 after teaching at the UI for 38 years. Memorials: UI Geology Library, Provena Covenant Hospice, WILL or Krannert Center for the Performing Arts.
Mollie Beth Katheryn McMullen, 65, died Oct. 19 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. She worked at the UI as a computer programmer.
Maude Ellen Stewart, 96, died Oct. 17 at home in Urbana. Stewart was a secretary at the UI forestry department and UI Medical Center. She also was a food service supervisor for 14 years.
